Hair Loss Prevention
Hair loss is progressive, meaning it will continue to get worse. The sooner you begin to treat the problem, the
sooner it will get better. But what if you have not begun to notice thinning hair or baldness yet? Preventative maintenance is the best
baldness treatment out there. While male or female pattern baldness is hereditary, and there is nothing we can do to change our genes, you can
still make a conscious effort to stop hair loss before it's started.
Shampooing your hair frequently cleans your scalp and removes dirt and buildup. Massage the shampoo thoroughly
through your hair, and scalp, paying special attention to the hair lines. Make sure to rinse all of the shampoo out of your hair, as leaving
any in can damage your scalp from the detergents in the shampoo. Contrary to some beliefs, frequent shampooing does not cause your
hair to fall out.
When finished shampooing, use a moisturizing conditioner. This is an important step to replenish the
moisture in the scalp and hair that the shampoo may have stripped. Leave the conditioner on your hair for approximately three minutes,
which will help strengthen your hair. This is especially important for men, who typically do not use a conditioner, and if they do they
immediately rinse it out, and do not leave it on long enough.
Exercise and a healthy diet are just as important to your hair as it is to the rest of your body. Eat a well
balanced diet including fruits and vegetables and foods high in protein. Vitamins such as A, B, C, E, and K are recommended for
preventing hair loss.
